For those planning more demanding voyages or want to sharpen sailing skills. This
course is not for novices; you need to have some experience before joining.
The base is set by 'Sail Canada' Advanced Cruising Standard curriculum. Topics like:
- Long passages, at least one 24 hour trip.
- Advanced anchoring techniques and anchoring under sail.
- Docking and casting off under sails.
- Manuevering in tight quarters.
- Boat systems in details.
- Flying cruising chutes (spinnaker / genaker).
- Multiple Crew Overboard procedures and area searches.
- Understanding weather and weather forecast.
In addition to the set curriculum, we welcome your input. You are encouraged to discuss, practice, or simulate any difficult situations you have encountered.
This course centers on sharing experiences between the crew members and the instructor as well. Believe us: no two courses are ever the same..
There will be homework to write a page or two on a topic assigned to you by the instructor.
